A used car is a green choice

A new car looks great, is reliable, has the latest technology and sometimes better fuel economy. That said, a lot of people overlook the environmental impact of buying a new car. In fact, using a used vehicle instead can be a smarter and more environmentally friendly option. Here are some of the benefits of using a used vehicle instead of a new one:

Lower Cost: One of the most obvious benefits of using a used vehicle is that it is generally much cheaper than a new one. You can often get a used vehicle that is just as reliable as a new one, but for a fraction of the price.

Reduced Environmental Impact: The production of new vehicles has a significant environmental impact. It requires the extraction of raw materials, the use of energy and resources for manufacturing, and the transportation of the finished product. By buying a used vehicle, you are reducing the demand for new vehicles and minimizing the environmental impact of the manufacturing process.

Less Depreciation: A new vehicle depreciates in value very quickly. In fact, some new cars lose up to 20% of their value within the first year of ownership. With a used vehicle, someone else has already taken the initial depreciation hit, so you can enjoy a vehicle that's a lot cheaper already.

Fuel Efficiency: Whilst new cars on average have better fuel economy than old ones (and therefore lower emissions), there hasn't actually been that much progress in the last 10 years if you look at combusions (petrol & diesel) engine cars. You can easily find cars that are 10 years old now that still use less fuel than a brand new car in the same category. It simply comes down to different manufacturers use of technology and the general efficiency of the car.

Hence, it's possible to find a used car that is a lot more environmentally friendly than a new car equivalent. Great for the planet, you and your wallet.
